The NBA Draft Early-Entry deadline is upon us, and the number of players declaring are finally dwindling down.
In the past week or so, we have seen the likes of Shawn Long, Jakob Poeltl, Isaiah Taylor, and Tyrone Wallace all return to their respective programs for another season. On the other hand, the likes of Stanley Johnson have decided to take their talents to the next level.
There was one name who had yet to make his decision: Yogi Ferrell. It was expected that the Hoosier would make his decision on Saturday, but he postponed until the next day.
The future got a little brighter for the Indiana Hoosiers on Sunday, as Yogi Ferrell is expected to return to Bloomington for his senior season, and electrify Assembly Hall for one last year.Ferrell has developed into quite the point guard over his career at Indiana. In 2014-15, he averaged 16.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per contest. He has shown that he can run the offense on any given night, but is also fully capable of assuming a scoring role and taking over the game at any moment.
His electrifying play will be just what Tom Crean needs, if he wants to stay off the coaching hot seat once again. Indiana has seen the likes of Stanford Robinson and Max Hoetzel transferring from the program, the return of Ferrell is a crucial decision for the Hoosiers.
Add Ferrell to the returning class of Troy Williams, James Blackmon, Jr, Hanner Mosquera-Perea, and Robert Johnson, among others, and the Hoosiers bring back essentially their entire roster from a year ago. Add in recruits like Thomas Bryant, and Indiana should be back in contention in the Big Ten in 2015-16.
