On the heels of the NCAA Tournament coming to an end, and the off-season beginning, we didn’t want to see the energy from the 2014-15 season come to an end.

In an attempt to keep school spirit alive over the course of the off-season, we launched the 1st Annual #CCRFanFavourite contest, in conjunction with RabbleTV, to see which school in the NCAA had the best fans in the country.

We started out with all 351 schools vying for the title of “Best Fans in the NCAA”. After two weeks of voting, the field was narrowed down to the top 32 vote-getters, regardless of conference. It was a bit of a surprise to us, but the majority of the teams were mid-major programs.

From there, another two weeks of voting helped to narrow the field down to the final eight teams, who would then go on to compete for the title. The eight finalists were:

Detroit Titans
Stetson Hatters
Dartmouth Big Green
Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks
NJIT Highlanders
Longwood Lancers
UTPA Broncs
Vermont Catamounts

After a plethora of votes came in over the course of the last 24 hours, the front-runner at the start of the round found themselves looking up in the standings at our eventual champion.

As voted on by the fans themselves, the winners of the 1st Annual #CCRFanFavourite contest, presented by RabbleTV, belong to…

The Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks!!!

For the second time in the last calendar year, the Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks found themselves in the top spot in a fan-voting contest through College Court Report.

Before the 2014-15 season kicked off, Harry the Hawk took home the title of Top Mascot in the 1st Annual CCR Mascot Mayhem contest.

For the Hawks, the 2014-15 season was a rejuvenating one for their fan base. With a new coach at the helm, in Bobby Collins, there was a new sense of optimism around the program. With players like Michael Myers, Jr and Devin Martin leading the way on the court, things were bound to improve for the Hawks.

Things for the Hawks did more than just improve. They exceeded people’s expectations night in and night out.

Overall this season, the Hawks finished with an impressive 18 – 15 record, which included an 11 – 5 record in MEAC action. They finished 3rd in the regular season conference standings. Considering they only won 15 games total in the previous three seasons combined, the 2014-15 season was a big step forward for the program.

Their strong regular season landed them an invitation into the 2015 CollegeInsider.Com tournament, one they gladly accepted. Despite their opening round loss to High Point, in a game that the Hawks led by 1 at the half, making it to a post-season tournament is definitely something to hang your hat on.

With the success of the 2014-15 season fresh on the minds of their fans, they came out in full force to show their support once more for their team. Thanks to their fans, the Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks are home to the top fans in the NCAA!

Congratulations to the Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks, the winners of the 1st Annual #CCRFanFavourite Contest, presented by RabbleTV!
