CALGARY, Alta. — We would like to apologize to the rest of the MAAC once again for igniting a fire under Justin Robinson before the season began.

In the off-season, we ranked the senior as the 62nd-best player in the country. On social media, Robinson, his teammates, and fans expressed their dislike around the ranking, and it’s tough to blame them.

A 62nd ranking for our preseason MAAC Player of the Year was just a tad low.

This season, the 5’8” guard has once again led the Monmouth Hawks to a regular season MAAC title, and has them in a prime spot to make it to the NCAA Tournament. After being snubbed last season, the Hawks have been on a tear in 2016-17.

Monmouth continued rolling this past week, posting two wins and extending their winning streak to 13 games and clinching the regular season conference title in the process.

Robinson was at the forefront of the Hawks’ two wins this week, posting his first 40-point game of the season on Monday to boot.

For his efforts this past week, Monmouth senior Justin Robinson has been named the College Court Report Co-Player of the Week for the week of February 13 – 19, 2017!

Entering the week, Robinson was coming off his lowest scoring performance of the season. For just the second time all year, he failed to score in double figures in the Hawks’ win over the Manhattan Jaspers.

One game after his lowest point total of the season, he put up his largest of the year to close out the Hawks’ three game road swing. Against the Siena Saints, who many picked to be the top threat to Monmouth in the race for the MAAC title, Robinson put up his first 40-point game of the year in a 102-82 win for Monmouth.

Robinson scored 40 points, on 14-of-20 shooting overall, and 8-of-13 shooting from three point range in the victory. He also pulled down 6 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists.

Three nights later, the Hawks returned home for a date against Matt Scott and the Niagara Purple Eagles. Once again, Robinson came up big as Monmouth extended their winning streak to an impressive 13 games.

Behind Robinson’s 27 points, Monmouth rolled to the 93-75 win over Niagara, extending their winning streak in the process. He also added 1 rebound and 4 assists in the victory.

Robinson put together his second straight impressive shooting night against Niagara, going 9-of-13 from the field and 7-of-9 from beyond the arc.

Over the two games, Robinson averaged 33.5 points per contest, while also averaging 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists. Combined, Robinson was 23-of-33 (69.7%) from the field, 15-of-22 (68.2%) from three point range, and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line.

In his final year with the Hawks, Robinson is having the best season of his career in 2016-17. He is averaging a team-best 19.9 points and 4.8 assists per game, while also averaging 3.8 rebounds per game. All three of those marks are career highs for Robinson.

Despite standing at 5’8”, Robinson is highly regarded as one of the best guards in the country. After bursting onto the scene last year during Monmouth’s stellar campaign, he has lived up to the hype this season, and then some. While many people don’t follow the MAAC as a whole until the NCAA Tournament rolls around, Justin Robinson is a name that everyone should know.

Here’s to hoping that the Hawks advance to the NCAA Tournament this season as MAAC Champions, so fans across the country can see what Robinson and company have to offer.

For his efforts this past week, a pair of games that saw Robinson average a cool 33.5 points per game over two wins for the Hawks, senior Justin Robinson has been named the College Court Report Co-Player of the Week for the week of February 13 – 19, 2017!

Robinson earned Co-Player of the Week honours alongside Mike Daum of the South Dakota State Jackrabbits.
