THIBODAUX, La. — More boats will be burned in 2018-19 and beyond.

This off-season, the Nicholls Colonels have continued to build on their success from the past two seasons, and are quickly turning into a powerhouse team in the Southland Conference. After finishing second in the conference last season, new head coach Austin Claunch and the Colonels have their sights set on a conference title.

So far this off-season, the Colonels have added six transfers that will help the team immediately, and into the future. Three players are graduate transfers and will suit up in 2018-19, while three more will sit out this year and become eligible in 2019-20.

The trio of Gavin Peppers, Jaylan Robertson, and Jeremiah Jefferson will suit up for the Colonels in 2018-19. The likes of Nico Clareth, Dexter McClanahan, and D’Angelo Hunter will be eligible in 2019-20.

On Sunday, the Colonels added yet another talented player to the mix, bringing their transfer total to seven players since the 2017-18 season came to a close. Sophomore guard Isaiah Ross committed to Austin Claunch and the Colonels, adding another talented player to the mix for the 2019-20 season. TOWSON, Md. –The Towson Tigers will look considerably different in 2018-19 in comparison to their 2017-18 roster.

After an 18-win season, the Tigers will be without their top five scorers heading into the 2018-19 season. Towson lost three players to graduation, and another two players decided to transfer out of the program.

Leading scorer Zane Martin (19.8 ppg) opted to transfer from the team after his sophomore season, as did fellow sophomore Justin Gorham (9.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg). While both players have yet to commit to new programs, it’s unlikely that they’ll be back in a Towson jersey.

Add in the graduation of Brian Starr, Mike Morsell, and Eddie Keith II, and the Tigers lose over 60 points per game of production from their 2017-18 roster (60.6) ppg.

On Monday, the Tigers got some good news on the transfer market. While the addition won’t help them right away in 2018-19, it does add an intriguing piece to the puzzle for the 2019-20 season and beyond. Towson landed a commitment from guard Juwan Gray, who will join the Tigers after two years on the West Coast with the San Diego Toreros. Continue reading Towson Lands San Diego Transfer Juwan Gray

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Fresh off a 20-win season, the San Diego Toreros are looking to build off their success in the 2018-19 season.

Despite some off-court issues surrounding former head coach Lamont Smith, San Diego finished in a tie for fourth place in the West Coast Conference with a record of 9-9 in WCC play. Their strong regular season earned them a spot in the field for the 2018 CollegeInsider.com Tournament.

Wins over the Hartford Hawks and Portland State Vikings advanced the Toreros into the quarter-finals, where they fell to the Northern Colorado Bears at home to end their season.

In 2018-19, San Diego should be a top-half team in the WCC once more. They have a plethora of talent returning, a core group that includes the likes of Olin Carter III, Isaiah Pineiro, and Isaiah Wright, among others. With all three players being seniors next season, the coaching staff for the Toreros are looking to add pieces for the 2019-20 season on the transfer market. SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Joe Pasternack has struck yet again on the recruiting trail.

He’s entering just his second season at the helm for the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos, but Pasternack continues to change the culture of the program with each passing day. He has helped turn the Gauchos into a major player on the recruiting trail, and that has been evident this off-season.

Prior to Thursday, the Gauchos added a pair of power conference transfers to their roster, one each for this season and next. Graduate transfer Ar’Mond Davis committed to UC Santa Barbara following his time with the Alabama Crimson Tide, and will be immediately eligible in 2018-19.

The Gauchos also added guard JaQuori McLaughlin, who joins the program after transferring from the Oregon State Beavers. He will sit out the 2018-19 season, and have two years of eligibility left starting in 2019-20.

This week, Pasternack added another talented player to the mix for the 2019-20 season, adding yet another guard from a power conference program to the mix. Canadian guard Brandon Cyrus committed to the Gauchos, giving the program another talented piece to build around moving forwards. Former Wright State Forward Commits to Florida Atlantic

BOCA RATON, Fla. — It’s been an eventful off-season for the Florida Atlantic Owls thus far.

Following the 2017-18 season, administration relieved head coach Michael Curry of his duties after four seasons at the helm. Over that time, the Owls amassed a record of just 39-84.

Two weeks after relieving Curry of his duties, the Owls named Dusty May the program’s next head coach, giving him the task of turning around the program and helping to make them a contender in the Conference USA. May spent the last three seasons in the SEC as an assistant coach with the Florida Gators, who made two NCAA Tournament appearances over May’s three years.

It won’t be an easy task to turn around a program, and it’s not going to happen in one year. However, on Thursday, the Owls landed an impact transfer who will add some talent and intrigue to the roster come the 2019-20 season.

After a strong freshman campaign with the Wright State Raiders, forward Everett Winchester committed to Florida Atlantic on Thursday, giving the Owls one of the better transfer players left on the market. Continue reading Former Wright State Forward Commits to Florida Atlantic

MUNICE, In. — If all goes according to plan, the Ball State Cardinals could very well have the best front court rotation in the Mid American Conference come the 2019-20 season.

The Cardinals already boast a pair of the top forwards in the conference in Tahjai Teague and Kyle Mallers. Both will be juniors in 2018-19, and are coming off of breakout seasons. Teague was second on the team in both scoring and rebounds with an average of 12.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, while Mallers posted 9.6 points and 4.9 rebounds of his own.

Add in Zach Gunn, who posted 5.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per game as a freshman in 25 games, and the front court rotation looks strong heading into the 2018-19 season.

On Thursday afternoon, the Cardinals added another talented forward to the mix for the 2019-20 season. Freshman forward Miryne Thomas committed to the Cardinals after one season with the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks. Continue reading Ball State Lands Maryland Eastern Shore Transfer Miryne Thomas
