CANMORE, Alta. — It’s one thing to notch your first win of the year in your home opener. It’s another to do something that nobody else has done in program history in the same game.

That’s the scenario that played out for Isaiah Reese during the home opener for the Canisius Golden Griffins on Saturday.

Canisius came into the week on the heels of a loss in their season opener.  They had one game on the road to open the week, and then closed the game with their home opener on Saturday against the Youngstown State Penguins. Reese put his name in the history books for the Golden Griffins, while also leading the team to their first win of the season.

For the first time in the 114-year history of men’s basketball at Canisius College, a triple-double was recorded.

For his efforts over the past week, a stretch that saw the Golden Griffins earn a split with a historic performance, Golden Griffins’ sophomore Isaiah Reese has been selected as the College Court Report Fan-Voted Player of the Week for November 13-19, 2017!

Reese received a commanding 86% of the fan vote in our weekly Twitter poll. He beat out Tre’Shaun Fletcher (Toledo), Chima Moneke (UC Davis), and Jahad Thomas (UMass-Lowell) for the weekly honour. CALGARY, Alta. — The 2017-18 season is just around the corner, and while there’s a debate on Twitter as to when the season actually starts, it can’t get here soon enough.

Schedules are being released with each passing weekday, and many of them feature early-season tournaments and multi-team events all throughout non-conference play. According to Chris Dobbertean and Blogging the Bracket, there are over 30 multi-team tournaments, and another handful of neutral site showcases and non-exempt events.

So, with the season coming up, we thought we would go through and preview all of the early-season tournaments, the non-exempt tournaments, and a wide array of the neutral site showcase events. In total, we will preview 75 different events over the course of the next 75 days, culminating on opening day.

We selected the events at random, and have broken some up into two pieces, like the Phil Knight Invitational, since there are two separate brackets.

Today, we take a look at the 2017 Men Against Breast Cancer Classic. Continue reading 2017-18 MTE and Neutral Site Showcase Preview Series: Men Against Breast Cancer

Entering Saturday afternoon’s game with the Denver Pioneers, the Air Force Falcons had been extremely tough to knock off on their home floor over the first month of the 2016-17 season.

The Falcons were a perfect 6-0 inside Clune Arena, with wins over the likes of the Jacksonville Dolphins, the Florida A&M Rattlers, and most recently, the Missouri State Bears in the MW/MVC Challenge.

On Saturday, the Pioneers were looking to put an end to the Falcons’ winning streak, while also looking for their third road win of the season.

They would achieve both of those things, thanks in large part to a big performance from the big man in the middle.

Junior forward Daniel Amigo scored a career-high 33 points, 27 of which came in the second half, and Denver put an end to Air Force’s home winning streak, 77-65. Continue reading RECAP: Amigo’s Career Night Leads Denver to Road Win over Air Force
