Liberty Set to Host North Carolina A&T in the First Round of the 2018 CollegeInsider.com Tournament

LYNCHBURG, Va. — The 2017-18 season is extended for at least one more game for a pair of teams who put together impressive runs during the regular season and conference tournaments.

Monday marks the start of postseason tournament basketball across the NCAA, as the 10th anniversary of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT) will begin play with a slew of games across the country. Programs from outside of the power conferences who weren’t selected for the NCAA Tournament or the NIT make up the field and will vie for the tournament title.

Earlier this week, the Liberty Flames accepted an invitation into the 2018 CIT, and they learned who their first opponent would be on Saturday. The Flames will welcome the North Carolina A&T Aggies to Lynchburg, VA on Monday night, with tip-off scheduled for 6:00pm EST.

The game is an intriguing match-up, and both teams are coming off of lengthy runs in their conference tournaments. Big South Championship Features an All-Virginia Match-Up

RADFORD, Va. — Sunday will have an instate rivalry theme to it when it comes to conference tournament championships.

In the Missouri Valley Conference title game, its am all-Illinois affair. The Loyola (IL) Ramblers, who won the regular season title, take on the Illinois State Redbirds for an automatic berth into the Big Dance.

A total of four bids will be secured on Sunday afternoon, as the Big Ten and Atlantic Sun will also crown champions before the day is out.

Kicking off the festivities on Sunday is the Big South Conference, and an all-Virginia match-up will decide who advances to the 2018 NCAA Tournament. The Liberty Flames, who came into the tournament as the fifth seed, head to Radford, VA to take on the Radford Highlanders, who were seeded second in the field.

Liberty Faces Top-Seed UNC Asheville in Big South Tournament Semi-Finals

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

March is now in full swing, which means post-season basketball is upon us. Conference tournaments have begun across the country, and teams are looking to build some momentum and advance to a post-season tournament. Every team has their sights set on the NCAA Tournament, and winning their conference tournament would guarantee them a spot in the field of 68.

On Friday night, the Big South Conference will have its semi-finals games take place inside Kimmel Arena in Asheville, North Carolina. Three of the top four seeds still remain, along with the fifth-seed Liberty Flames. The first of two semi-final games has the Radford Highlanders taking on the Winthrop Eagles.

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Fans always see college basketball players on the court during the season.

But, what does life look like for these athletes away from the court? Nowadays, more and more athletes are taking to social media to showcase their lives away from the court, giving fans a deeper insight into their day-to-day life.

With Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Snapchat, and even Facebook to an extent still, fans have more and more access and insight into a player’s life away from the court. From classes to workouts, and bus trips to practices, fans can learn a lot from what players share on social media in their spare time.

For starters, you’ve got Isaiah Tripp, who owns and operates his own YouTube channel entitled Tripp Talk. He has taken fans inside the Abilene Christian Wildcats’ men’s basketball program, while also showcasing his family life away from the hardwood. Since the 2017-18 season started, Tripp has seen his number of subscribers skyrocket, reaching close to 3,000.

Liberty Looks to Extend Winning Streak With a Road Contest at Charleston Southern

CHARLESTON, S.C. — As the month of February continues to move along, the Big South regular season title could go to any one of seven teams.

With six games left on the slate before Wednesday night’s action, seven teams are within three games of first place in the league. Three teams, including the Liberty Flames, find themselves at 6-6 in league play, and are still within striking distance of the league-leading UNC Asheville Bulldogs (9-3).

From here on out, each win is important. The Flames will put their three game winning streak on the line on Wednesday night against the Charleston Southern Buccaneers. It marks the second of two regular season meetings between the two programs this season, and Liberty will look for another win to continue to move up the standings, while the Buccaneers will look to bounce back after a loss in their last outing.

Five Teams to Watch Ahead of Conference Tournaments

LONDON, Ont. — Move over football, it’s college basketball’s time to shine!

With Super Bowl 52 now a thing of the past, the attention in the sporting world shifts to college basketball and the March to Madness. With the conference races heating up all across the country, teams are starting to separate themselves from the pack as they look to punch their ticket to the Big Dance.

As we all know from history, not all things go according to plan. Teams atop the conferences right now aren’t guaranteed of a spot in the field of 68, as anything can happen come late-February and early March.

Every year, there are teams that come from the middle of conference standings to make a run at their respective conference tournament title. It will happen again this year, without question, and we will see a few surprise entrants in the bracket come Selection Sunday as conference champions.

Here are five teams who currently sit in the middle of the pack in their respective conferences that could make some noise down the stretch during the regular season and into the post-season.
