Liberty never trails in 87-42 win over Clarks Summit

LYNCHBURG, Va. — The Liberty Flames came out of the gate on fire to open the 2017-18 regular season.

Liberty welcomed the Clarks Summit Defenders to town for their fifth meeting all-time. The Flames were a perfect 4-0 against the Defenders, and were looking to extend their winning streak while also kicking off the season with a win.

From the outset of the game, the Flames seized complete control of the game, and Clarks Summit didn’t put up much of a fight from the opening tip. An extended run to open the game blew things open before the halfway point of the first half, and Liberty had things on cruise control throughout the second half.

Liberty Flames open the 2017-18 season at home against Clarks Summit

LYNCHBURG, Va. — With their big road win in exhibition play still fresh in their minds, the Liberty Flames get their 2017-18 season underway on Friday evening.

For the third year in a row, and second under head coach Ritchie McKay, the Flames welcome the Clarks Summit Defenders to Lynchburg, VA for a non-conference match-up. Liberty hold a perfect 4-0 record all-time against the Defenders, with their most recent victory coming by a final score of 81-33 last season.

As the 2017-18 season gets rolling, there’s a lot of positive buzz surrounding the Flames. In exhibition play, Liberty went on the road and picked up a big win over the VCU Rams, 85-69.
