ALBUQUERQUE, NM. — Paul Weir is at it again on the transfer market.
The New Mexico Lobos already have a pair of power conference transfers entering the fold next season. JaQuan Lyle, who transferred from the Ohio State Buckeyes, and Vance Jackson, formerly of the Connecticut Huskies, will both become eligible for the Lobos during the 2018-19 season.
On Thursday, Weir added another piece to the puzzle, and this one is a big piece that brings with him a ton of potential.
Every good basketball site needs a college basketball handicapper, and I bring you into the the world of the Big Man on Campus! I am excited to join College Court Report, and add a new feature to the website.
As the exhibition season begins and Midnight Madness’s get going, I thought it necessary to get in a couple futures as we embark on the season. Futures are a great long term investment, and the motto here is simple.. get to the tournament and you never know from there.
Lets take a look at a couple teams I’ll be personally betting on to cut down the nets in April. Some will be long shots, and the goal there will be to hedge our bets for guaranteed profit!
CANMORE, Alta. –The 2017-18 season tips off on November 10th, which means the final month without college basketball is finally upon us.
Fans all across the country are gearing up for another exciting college basketball season, and with the recent scandal involving the FBI and several power conference programs across the NCAA, the level of anticipation is through the roof.
Conference preview pieces are starting to circulate from various media outlets, and conferences are hosting their annual media days and announcing their preseason polls and award winners. It’s always interesting to see how coaches and media rank teams in their respective conferences.
With the season right around the corner, we are starting to release our Preseason Player of the Year awards for each conference, along with three All-Conference teams. Picked at random, we will release two sets of awards each day.
Once again in the Big 12, the Kansas Jayhawks look to be the clear favourite in the title picture. However, several other teams return talented roster that will push Bill Self’s crew to the limit come conference play.

CALGARY, Alta. — The 2017-18 season is just around the corner, and while there’s a debate on Twitter as to when the season actually starts, it can’t get here soon enough.
Schedules are being released with each passing weekday, and many of them feature early-season tournaments and multi-team events all throughout non-conference play. According to Chris Dobbertean and Blogging the Bracket, there are over 30 multi-team tournaments, and another handful of neutral site showcases and non-exempt events.
So, with the season coming up, we thought we would go through and preview all of the early-season tournaments, the non-exempt tournaments, and a wide array of the neutral site showcase events. In total, we will preview 75 different events over the course of the next 75 days, culminating on opening day.
We selected the events at random, and have broken some up into two pieces, like the Phil Knight Invitational, since there are two separate brackets.
CANMORE, Alta. — August 1st marks the start of a fresh month, which means a fresh start for many things in this world.
It also marked the launch of the CCR Podcast, powered by College Court Report.
Nico Wright, Ryan Scarfone, and myself, Tyler Bennett, took an introductory approach to the inaugural episode of the podcast. We each recorded our own introductions, providing insight into our basketball experiences to date, while also touching on how we all came together to launch the podcast.
Admittedly, it didn’t come without some hiccups and some wrinkles that need to be ironed out over the coming weeks. Some names were pronounced incorrectly, while the volume on some parts were higher than others. It all comes with unfamiliar territory.
However, we are fully committed to providing listeners with a high-quality product that is insightful and engaging.
At the end of our intros, we all released our Preseason Top 25 Rankings. There were some surprises along the way, but there were several teams that were constant across the board.
CALGARY, Alta. — So far this offseason, 728 players have transferred from their 2016-17 program, according to Verbal Commits.
That’s a fair number of players.
With that, rosters will look vastly different over the next two seasons, as graduate transfers take to the hardwood this season with their new programs, while others have to wait until the 2018-19 campaign to get into game action.
There have been some great additions for programs all across the country, and there have been some decisions that leave you scratching your head ans asking the age old question of ‘why’.
