As the saying goes: the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. On Thursday, that saying came into focus once again, with the California Golden Bears and the Pac-12 Conference as a whole.
The conference as a whole has seen some big-time players return to their respective programs over the past week or so. Jakob Poeltl decided to return to Utah for a sophomore season, while Kaleb Tarczewski decided to make it a four-year career at Arizona by returning for his senior season. Other teams in the conference, like California, needed something big to happen to give them a shot at contending.
The Arizona Wildcats have had a roller-coaster of an offseason, and it’s only the end of April. The likes of Brandon Ashley, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Stanley Johnson all declared for the NBA Draft. Add in the loss of TJ McConnell who graduated, and Sean Miller is without a big part of his team who went 34 – 4 in 2014-15.
Fortunately for the Wildcats, Friday was a better day for the program. It was announced that big man Kaleb Tarczewski was returning for his senior season, which is a big boost for the program. They also landed one of the more coveted transfers from this off-season.
