TAMPA, Fla. — The South Florida Bulls were due for a win, as good things have been few and far between as of late for the team in terms of results.

Coming into Thursday night’s game with the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats, the Bulls had lost four straight games. Three of those losses were by double figures, and two were on their home floor. The Bulls were looking to put an end to their losing streak, and get back on the right track as the calendar year is slowly winding down.

Over the years, they’ve had the Wildcats’ number, holding a 14-1 edge in the all-time series between the two schools. Last year, the Bulls overcame a 19-point deficit against Bethune-Cookman, and ultimately picked up a six point win in overtime. They were looking for their fourth straight win over the Wildcats, while Bethune-Cookman was looking for their second straight win overall.

Behind 20 points and seven assists from graduate transfer Stephan Jiggetts, South Florida pulled away in the second half for the 83-63 win on Thursday night, snapping their four-game losing streak in the process. South Florida bolsters roster for 2017-18 with addition of three graduate transfers

Penn State transfer Payton Banks is one of three graduate transfers to commit to South Florida this off-season, bolstering the roster for the Bulls in 2017-18.

TAMPA, Fla. — When one thinks of basketball power programs, one name that doesn’t jump out is the South Florida Bulls.

Over the past few years, the Bulls have finished in the bottom half of the American Athletic Conference standings, and have been riddled by transfers. During the 2016-17 season, leading scorer Jahmal McMurray transferred despite playing in just three games.

He was averaging over 20 points per contest over those three games.

Then, this off-season, Mike Bibby Jr. announced he was transferring from the program. Add that to the list of things going against the Bulls next season.

However, there have been plenty of things to be excited about as next season slowly approaches. The addition of three transfers, all of whom are immediately eligible in 2017-18 as graduate transfers, have the Bulls trending in the right direction.

All three players will play significant roles next season with the Bulls, and provide significant depth at all three spots. Continue reading South Florida bolsters roster for 2017-18 with addition of three graduate transfers
