CANMORE, Alta. — Coming into the week, the UT Martin Skyhawks had just one win to their name in 2017-18, and they were looking to get back on the right track before taking five days off from game action for exams.

Fortunately for the Skyhawks, junior forward Fatodd Lewis had a pair of big performances in his back pocket to lead the attack and get the team heading in the right direction.

In their win over the North Carolina Central Eagles back on November 15th, Lewis recorded his first career double-double, going for 15 points and 11 rebounds in the Skyhawks’ 74-57 win at home.

Fast forward to this week, and the Skyhawks were still sitting on that lone win. After the past week, a pair of games that saw Lewis stuff the stat sheet on back-to-back occasions, UT Martin has now won two straight games, and are undefeated this season when Lewis records at least a double-double.

For his efforts this past week, UT Martin junior forward Fatodd Lewis has been selected as the College Court Report Player of the Week for December 4 – 10, 2017! Continue reading College Court Report Player of the Week: Fatodd Lewis, UT Martin Skyhawks

CANMORE, Alta. — It’s no secret that the Oakland Golden Grizzlies are the team to beat in the Horizon League this season, especially with the departure of the Valparaiso Crusaders to the Missouri Valley Conference.

They have one of the more experienced roster in the country, headlined by five seniors. They have a trio of Horizon League Player of the Year contenders, in Jalen HayesKendrick Nunn, and Martez Walker. All three players have started their 2017-18 season strong, and the Golden Grizzlies are starting to round into form.

Over the past week, Oakland took to the court three times. They came into the week with a 2-3 record, and were looking to get back on the right track. Two of the three games were away from home, so the Golden Grizzlies still had their work cut out for themselves.

Thanks in large part to Walker, who posted a pair of 30+ scoring performances over the week, Oakland came away with a perfect 3-0 record. They pushed their record above the .500 mark in the process, and showed that they are truly rounding into form.

For his efforts this past week, a stretch that saw him average more than 28 points per game in three wins, Oakland senior guard Martez Walker has been named the College Court Report Player of the Week for November 27 – December 3, 2017! CANMORE, Alta. — Across the entire NCAA, senior Zach Thomas has been one of the nation’s top players through the first two weeks of the season.

Despite a slow start out of the gate for the Bucknell Bison, who have one of the toughest non-conference slates of any team in the country, Thomas has been a star from game one. He’s been a star over his career with the Bison, but has flown under the radar for the majority of his tenure at Bucknell.

Thomas has averaged double-digit points per game in every year since his sophomore season. He posted 7.5 points per game as a freshman, and has improved with each passing year. This season is no different, as Thomas is on pace for a career year in scoring, rebounding, blocks, and three point shooting through seven games.

Entering the week, the Bison were 0-4. Thomas had a pair of double-doubles to his name, and had recorded at least 17 points in all four games to start the season. With three games on tap this past week, Thomas and the Bison were looking to get back on the right track.

Behind stellar efforts from Thomas, the Bison completed a perfect 3-0 week, and are showing why they were projected as the runaway favourites in the Patriot League this season.

For his efforts this past week, a stretch of three games that saw him post his third double-double of the season and average better than 28 points per game, Bucknell forward Zach Thomas has been named the College Court Report Player of the Week for November 20-26, 2017! College Court Report Player of the Week: Femi Olujobi, North Carolina A&T Aggies

CANMORE, Alta. — Last season, they won a total of three games, with their third win not coming until March 2nd, which was the regular season finale.

This season, they were picked to finish last in the MEAC in the conference preseason poll. Based on how they’ve played over their first four games, it’s safe to say that the North Carolina A&T Aggies have used all of that as motivation to prove people wrong.

As the month of November moves along, the Aggies sit at 3-1 after the first ten days of the season. They’ve already matched last season’s win total in the span of a week and a half. North Carolina A&T has been one of the bigger surprises so far this season, and they show no signs of slowing down.

A big reason for their quick turnaround has been the play of junior forward Femi Olujobi, who is in his first year with the program after transferring from the Oakland Golden Grizzlies.

He opened his career with the Aggies by scoring 34 points and pulling down 10 rebounds, and he has scored at least 20 points in all four games this season. This past week was no different, as he led the Aggies to a pair of wins to push their record to 3-1.

For his efforts over the past seven days, a stretch that saw him post a career-high 37 points and record his second double-double of the year, North Carolina A&T forward Femi Olujobi has been named the College Court Report Player of the Week for November 13 – 19, 2017! CANMORE, Alta. — Last season, the North Dakota Fighting Hawks punched their first-ever ticket to the NCAA Tournament. While they fell to the Arizona Wildcats in the First Round, it was still a successful season for the program.

In the off-season, the Fighting Hawks said goodbye to several contributors from last year’s team.

Forward Drick Bernstine transferred to the Washington State Cougars, while fellow big man Carson Shanks transferred to the Loyola (IL) Ramblers. To top it all off, one of the program’s all-time greats graduated, in two-time College Court Report Player of the Year Quinton Hooker.

Coming into 2017-18, many expected junior guard Geno Crandall to take on a starring role for the Fighting Hawks. Through two games, he has lived up to the preseason billing, and even exceeded some expectations.

Simply put, North Dakota will be just fine with Crandall at the helm.

Through two games at the Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic in Honolulu, Crandall has been the go-to guy for North Dakota. He put together one of the more impressive second half performances you will see all season in the team’s opener on Friday.

After leading North Dakota to an even 1-1 record over their first two games in Hawaii, Fighting Hawks’ junior guard Geno Crandall has been named the College Court Report Player of the Week(end) for November 10 – 12, 2017! College Court Report Fan-Voted Player of the Week: Jaleen Smith, New Hampshire Wildcats

Jaleen Smith averaged a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds per game last week over a pair of wins for New Hampshire.
Jaleen Smith averaged a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds per game last week over a pair of wins for New Hampshire.

CALGARY, Alta. — While the Vermont Catamounts look to be the clear favourite to win the America East title, there are several teams who they should be worried about as the conference tournament approaches.

One of those teams possesses one of the stronger guard-forward tandems in the conference, if not the NCAA as a whole.

The New Hampshire Wildcats boast junior forward Tanner Leissner inside, and senior scoring guard Jaleen Smith on the outside. The two have combined to average more than 32 points and 14 rebounds per contest this year, and they have helped to lead the Wildcats to a 17-11 record overall.

This past week, Smith put all of his talents on display in a pair of wins for New Hampshire. He can impact the game on so many levels, and that was prevalent over the past seven days.

After his impressive week, fans showed their support for the native of Freeport, Texas. Jaleen Smith has been selected by the fans as the College Court Report Fan-Voted Player of the Week for the week of February 13 – 19, 2017!
