DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — What a difference a year makes in the MEAC standings.

Last season, the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats finished 10th in the league with a record of 6-10, while the North Carolina A&T Aggies finished in last place at 1-15. Both were projected to be towards the bottom of the standings in the preseason polls for the 2017-18 season, but they have managed to flip the script.

The Aggies (8-2) and Wildcats (7-3) sit second and third in the league standings in advance of Monday’s action, respectively, and will be looking to keep pace atop the league standings.

On the flip side, the North Carolina Central Eagles find themselves in some unfamiliar territory through 10 league games, as they sit in a tie for fifth spot at 6-4. After winning the tournament title a season ago, they are looking to return to the Big Dance.

Monday night pits the Wildcats and Eagles against one another for the only regular season meeting between the two programs in 2017-18. Both teams are looking to catch the Savannah State Tigers atop the conference standings, and while that’s no easy feat, a win for either program on Monday will go a long way as they continue the stretch run.

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. — Conference play is in full swing in the MEAC, and it’s been a surprising first three weeks to say the least.

After being picked ninth and 13th in the preseason polls, respectively, the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats and North Carolina A&T Aggies enter the new week atop the conference standings at 5-0. Both have winning streaks of at least five games, and have shown no signs of slowing down.

Nipping at their heels is a team that knows what it takes to win the conference title. Last year’s champion, the North Carolina Central Eagles, enter Monday night’s match-up with the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks at 4-1 in conference play. The Eagles will look to pick up another win and keep pace with the Wildcats and Aggies atop the standings.
