Over the first two games of the 2016-17 season, sophomore guard Joe Rosga has proven why he is one of the top players in the Summit League, and has shown everyone why we picked him as a First Team All-Summit League member before the season kicked off.
In the season opener for the Denver Pioneers, Rosga put up 30 points in their 92-84 loss to the Jacksonville Dolphins.
On Thursday, he was looking to follow that up with another big performance as the Pioneers searched for their first win of the 2016-17 season. They went on the road to take on the San Jose State Spartans, who split their first two games, but entered Thursday night’s tilt coming off a loss to the Portland Pilots.
It was a quieter night on the scoreboard for Rosga, as he recorded 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the floor. But, it was a well-balanced attack for Denver as a whole.
Three players scored in double-figures, including Rosga, and Thomas Neff hit a pair of free throws late in the game to seal the deal for the Pioneers.
With the exhibition season in full swing, and coming to a close early this week, that can mean only one thing.
The 2016-17 college basketball regular season is just around the corner!
Things get underway Friday, November 11th at Noon EST with the first regular season game of the season, and there will be a plethora of talent on display across all 32 conferences all season long.
Before the season gets started, we decided to hand out some preseason hardware, in the form of our Conference Player of the Year award and All-Conference Teams.
Along with that, we have the College Court Report All-Americans, and the Mid-Major Player of the Year Preseason Watch List. Links to all of the conference awards and the Watch List can be found at the bottom of each article.
