Last season, the Auburn Tigers signed former-Tennessee bench boss Bruce Pearl to help bring the team back into contention in the SEC. The addition of Pearl helped the Tigers bring in transfers Antoine Mason and Kareem Canty, and there was a ton of optimism around the program.
The team struggled in the regular season, but advanced to the SEC tournament semi-finals before being ousted by Kentucky. Looking ahead to 2015-16, Mason will be graduated, but Marshall-transfer Canty is now eligible to play. Big man Matt Atewe is also transferring out of the program, putting the Tigers down a big man in the front court.
Wednesday may have provided the Tigers and Pearl a nice replacement for the loss of the sophomore Atewe.
