WEST POINT, N.Y. — Saturday afternoon brought one of college basketball’s top rivalries to the spotlight before a full day of action.

The Navy Midshipmen were in West Point, NY to take on the Army West Point Black Knights in the second meeting of the season between the two programs. Back on January 14th, 2018, the Black Knights picked up a 64-62 win in Annapolis, MD.

On Saturday, the Midshipmen were looking for a little redemption inside Christl Arena in front of a sold-out crowd.

Having won three of their last four outings, Navy was looking to keep their positive momentum rolling as they continue their climb in the Patriot League standings. With the exception of an early 2-2 tie against Army West Point in the opening minutes of Saturday’s tilt, the Midshipmen were in control of the contest from start to finish.

The Midshipmen never trailed on the road on Saturday, and picked up their fourth win in five outings with a 68-59 victory over the Black Knights.

With the win, the Navy Midshipmen won the Alumni Trophy in the rivalry series. Continue reading Navy Leads Wire-to-Wire in Rivalry Win Over Army West Point, 68-59

HAMILTON, NY — Monday nights are usually quiet across the college basketball landscape, with teams from the MEAC and SWAC usually occupying the bulk of the game slots.

January 8th features both those conferences, as well as the Patriot League. On the same night as the College Football National Championship, there aren’t any top 25 match-ups or power conference teams in action, and the attention of most fans will be on the gridiron as opposed to the hardwood.

With that said, there are still some intriguing match-ups across the college basketball world. One of those games comes from the aforementioned Patriot League, where the Navy Midshipmen will visit the Colgate Raiders in the fourth game of conference play for both teams.

The Midshipmen and Raiders are a part of a seven-way tie for first place in the conference standings, sitting at 2-1 through three games. The race for the Patriot League crown is shaping up to be an exciting one, and a win for either Navy or Colgate could go a long way when all is said and done.

Here’s what you need to know in advance of Monday’s tilt between the Raiders and Midshipmen. Continue reading January 8th Game of the Day: Navy Midshipmen at Colgate Raiders
