WICHITA, Ks. — The 2017-18 college basketball season kicks off this week, and the Wichita State Shockers already have a title to their name.
In the six weeks leading up to the 2017-18 season, College Court Report operated its 4th Annual Mascot Mayhem Challenge, in search of the NCAA’s Top Mascot. In a bracket-style tournament, 68 of the top mascots from across the country were randomly selected into four regions, and fans voted each week for their favourites.
The Final Four saw mascots from four different conferences represented. Two familiar faces found their way back to the Final Four, while one newcomer to the challenge advanced all the way to the Championship pairing.
What once started with 68 mascots back on September 22nd came to a close on November 5th, and only one mascot was left standing.
The Championship saw Wichita State’s WuShock square off against Bill, representing the Navy Midshipmen. Both mascots had gained support with each passing week of the challenge, but only one could come away as the Top Mascot in the NCAA.
CANMORE, Alta. — The 4th Annual College Court Report Mascot Mayhem Challenge is now down to its final two mascots who are vying for the title of ‘Top Mascot in the NCAA’.
With the 2017-18 college basketball season less than two weeks away, fans across the country are buzzing with excitement about their respective teams. Several teams have taken part in disaster relief games to raise funds for relief efforts across North America and other parts of the world, which has only added to the buzz.
But, before the season kicks off, there’s one more week of voting in the Mascot Mayhem Challenge to determine the winner.
The Final Four saw two familiar faces taking part, including last year’s winner. Then, there was a newcomer to the challenge entirely, and one who has been a mainstay over the four years, but was in their first Final Four.
CANMORE, Alta. — The 2017-18 season kicks off next month, as we are 40 days away from opening day on November 10th.
The excitement is starting to build, both on and off the court, for teams all across the country. Here at College Court Report, we try to drive school spirit across the nation in advance of each season, by virtue of our Mascot Mayhem Challenge.
As of late Sunday night, the field has been cut in half, with 32 mascots advancing to the Round of 32 after a week of voting. There were several surprises across the board, while a few mascots emerged as front-runners for this year’s crown.
